Apparently inspired by the apple crates he had played on as a child, Gehry created the ribbon-like chair with woven wood strips. The design uses the properties of the maple strips well, providing structure as well as a lean and modern aesthetic (the chair is also now being sold as a “green” product). This chair has become a bit of a design star, winning multiple awards, like an ID Magazine Gold Award, and a Time Magazine, Best Design in 1992.

Greetings from Florida! I’m bored to death at work so I decided to browse your blog on my iphone during lunch break. I can’t wait to take a look when I get home on my laptop.
